Jeep is tight lipped about it but its !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , will be placed above the grand Cherokee, have 7 seats and is targeting the Range Rover (that has 5 seats...go figure). Anyway, what do you want the new GW to look like/be?
To get you rolling here are shots of the old GW and some terrible renders of what a new one might look like
And now for the terrible

I have become too tired of this carrot and stick from Jeep

To be honest, I'm hoping its less Jeep like than anything in the lineup. Ditch the 7 bar grill, keep the lines simple but avoid retro at all costs. Super plush interior, V8 only. (okay, maybe ecodiesel too, since the luxury diesel SUV market is pretty alive right now)

Its on the map, and its on schedule to be a 2018 product so I wouldn't loose faith. Now it may suck, but given how on the ball they have been lately, I'm not sure it will.

If they had branded this a Grand Wagoneer and added jeep stylin' it might have sold more than 3 units.

But...why not Durango at that point?

Jeep has too many SUV's. Can we get rid of the Compass?

I was thinking their ass still hurt from the Commander and how few sales that produced to do another big one. I could be wrong, 3 years is a long ways out

Those renders are indeed horrible. Thanks for the warning, at least I could steel myself first.

There have only been three things that have been "absolutely coming" longer than a new Grand Cherokee:
1) Flying cars
2) MR Corvettes
3) SI Swim subscribers
I'm not holding my breath for a new Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer.

What? You want them to make a car or something? Do you even get the point of the brand?

I don't have anything to add. I just really like the 80s Wagoneers.
I would like to have relations with 80s Wagoneers.

Build a BoF SUV that actually challenges the Tahoe/Suburban - and build a strip down model for people who want the wheel a full size.

Sounds like they aren't targeting the masses with this one, but I could be wrong. Sadly, FCA doesn't have a BOF platform to even work with on this scale.

Yes it does, adapt the Ram 1500 chassis just like GM does.

BTW interesting story from yesterday. Realized its my front drive shaft that took a dump. Call up Slee to ask what u-joints they used on their shaft. They say send a picture could be anyone of 3. Get a call back, "uh dude that's a stock drive shaft." I go back under car, yeah I guess upon basic visual inspection it is not a double cardan shaft, even thought I distinctly remember replacing the shaft when I lifted the truck 8 years ago. Genuinely perplexed...

I don't really think body-on-frame platform when I think of Jeep, except for the Wrangler. Cherokees and Grand Cherokees have been unibody since the 80s, and they seem to do fine off-road.
I also don't think a Grand Wagoneer should be as big as a Tahoe, or body-on-frame. Some numbers:
The Durango is basically already a long-wheelbase Grand Cherokee. So it would stand to reason that FCA could make another Durango-sized vehicle with more Jeep-y styling and an interior at least as good as the fanciest Grand Cherokee trim, and call it a Grand Wagoneer.

I think if Jeep updates the styling of the Commander, and gives it proper V8 or diesel, and make the interior super luxerious, they have a shot to succeed.

Here's why I don't like that plan, the Grand Cherokee isn't easy to modify and only so so offroad. I really would like to see FCA use the Ram chassis for and SUV (easy to modify, lots of lifts already in existence), I think i'd be great and then they could stuff the hellcat motor in it for the SRT version.

FOR REALZ. I've modified my google alert 7 times now: Grand Wagoneer 2012, Grand Wagoneer 2013, Grand Wagoneer 2014, Grand Wagoneer 2015, Grand Wagoneer 2016, Grand Wagoneer 2017, and now, Grand Wagoneer 2018. I might be obsessed.

So I finally got around to looking for the original drive shaft that I replaced like 8 years ago when I lifed my cruiser. I was hoping that I just remember incorrectly and that I never installed the double cardan. Found it in my fathers garage in the Slee box that the new “doulbe cardan” came in. Guess what - its a stock toyota front drive shaft. Slee must have sent me a stock replacement shaft 8+ years ago when I bought the lift and I was just a dumb teenager and didnt know any better. Not sure exactly what to do at this point... I sure would like to get rid of the vibrations at 70 MPH.

Sure sounds like you are owed a new shaft

Yeah, I doubt Slee will see it that way. Worth a call anyway.

You never know. I just now heard back from WTB about exploded mountain bike rims that are WAY out of warranty and they are sending my 2 brand new rims.
